Director Lara Izagirre has been immersed in her new feature film “YERMA,” co-writing with María Goiricelaya since 2022.
Gariza Films’ new international project, co-produced with Greek production company Neda Film, will be the director’s third feature film and will be shot entirely in Basque.
The project has already been through various forums, laboratories, and artistic residencies such as: Evia Film Project (Thessaloniki Film Festival), Apika Lab, Dirdira Lab, Azala, Films Femmes Mediterranée, and Elkarrekin Sortzen by Etxe Betea.
In addition, “YERMA” has received various sources of funding, including: the Basque Government, Eitb, ERT (Greek public television), Hellenic Film & Audiovisual Center (Greece), BBK, and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia. These have been joined by support from Europa Media Creativa.
